Title
Davey Hilton skates for Hobie / Vita-Pakt
Description
Dave Hilton (Davey Hilton) skated for the Hobie / Vita-Pakt Super Surfer skateboard team with his brother Steve. They traveled around the country doing demos and showing people what skateboarding was.
Dave appeared on the cover of the first issue of "Skateboarder" magazine (1964), jumping over a bar, barefoot, at sunset in West Covina.
"There was the whole first wave of organized skateboarding in the 1960s, and those were the guys that we looked up to and tried to emulate, because they were the pioneers."
-- Jim Muir
"The Hilton brothers in their time were the best. They had the style. They had the flow. They knew how to sidewalk surf, and sidewalking surfing was where skateboarding was at in the 1960s. That was the deal, and they were the best at it."
-- Tony Alva
"Steve and Dave Hilton are OGs. I was a little young to appreciate their contributions at the time, but I understand them now."
-- Tony Hawk
"The template, if you will, of modern-day skateboarding goes all the way back to Davey, and Stevey, and the Hilton family."
-- Jim Fitzpatrick
