Title

Kenneth C. Graham, Stuart Van Hook, Donald W. Graham

Description

Kenneth C. Graham, Stuart Van Hook (with rifle), and Donald W. Graham stand in the dry Topanga Creek bed across Topanga Canyon Blvd. from Kneen's Camp. Don eventually moved to Topanga in 1950, where he raised his family from 1950 to 1971. His wife, Phyllis Hopson Graham, also spent time during her teenaged years in Topanga, and participated in activities at the Barton School in Old Canyon.

Both Don and Phyllis were artists. Before moving to Topanga, Don was hired by Walt Disney to start and lead the art school at the Disney Studios, focusing on the development of animation as an art form and improving the drawing skills of the animators. He also was Chairman of Faculty at the Chouinard Art Institute, and, before his retirement, was involved with the establishment of the California Institute of the Arts. Phyllis was a writer of books, including one about raising twins, and an award-winning children's book illustrator.
